Player Assessment

Eastern Suburbs do not typically run one off trials, instead we prefer selection windows where the player is assessed over a period of time.

When preseason training begins, players turn up to the appropriate training for their age grade unless notified by the club after you have registered irrespective of team last year and is assessed against all other players, then moved up/down accordingly.  The coaching team’s assessment will be done as soon as practical and players / parents will be advised when coaches have had the chance to assess everyone.  Tony Readings, the clubs Director of Football will be involved in assessing players and working on the right pathway for each player and these may differ from player to player.  Tony has a wealth of knowledge and experience so will be an astute judge on what is best for each player.

Please be patient for first few weeks as its hard to judge a player on one training.  If after a few weeks you have concerns encourage the player to approach and discuss with the coach.

'Making sure that coaches are really looking at their professional development and making their way through those coaching licenses to become better coaches'
Danny Hay, High Performance Director and Head Coach.

I also wanted to try a sport that lots of friends from school played. All of my soccer playing school mates play at Eastern Suburbs and this is the closest club to home. Everyone at the club is friendly and Paul is a really good coach.
Elijah McMillan, player (Grade 13)

'Being a player I can tell them where things go wrong for me and coach them for that as well'
