Thurston named Lilywhites Women’s Head Coach

Eastern Suburbs have moved quickly to appoint a new Women’s head coach.

Former Men’s first team player Adam Thurston has been named head coach of the Lilywhites Premier Women for the remainder of the season.

Thurston describes the opportunity as a huge honour and is excited about bringing out the best in the playing group.

“It’s exciting taking on the challenge as Head Coach of the Women’s Premier team. It’s an honour to lead a group with such potential, and I’m looking forward to building something special with this squad” Thurston said.

“I am looking forward to working with a talented group of players and creating an environment, where they can grow and express themselves.

“Not only do I want to support each player’s individual development, but I want us to go out there and win as many games as possible by playing on the front foot, with intensity and confidence.

“Ultimately, we want to be competitive every week & trying to win every game.”

From 2020-2024, Thurston coached various junior and age group sides throughout the club, which included the Girls U16 team and more recently, the Women’s Reserves in 2024.

Thurston will assume his role as head coach immediately.
